Brass servicing

Service on a brass instrument includes dismantling the instrument, and de-greasing every part, then servicing slides and valves as needed. We can tackle dents or misalignment and will wash through the instrument before assembly with new consumables (felts, corks etc.) as required. This includes an internal chemical clean to remove build up of hardened deposits like lime scale.

Dent removal and Small Repairs

Sometimes all you need is a dent taken out, a slide re-aligned, maybe there’s just one valve that’s suddenly sticking. Feel free to get in touch - on our reply you can send us a photo of the dent or issue and we will find what would be the best way to go about it. Dent work will always leave a scar, but we always aim for discrete repairs that does not catch your eye by using the reflections of the shape of the metal.

Internal Cleaning

Brass Instruments should be cleaned regularly to stop build up of dirt and allow for a free-blowing and hygienic playing experience. If all parts are moving smoothly and the consumables (felts, waterkey corks, springs etc.) are doing their job, your instrument would meet the criteria for a simple wash through. This is something that should be done every six months and can be done by the player at home. The difference here is that we will give it a internal chemical clean to remove limescale and other build ups that might be hard to remove. We can also advise on the best way to maintain the Instrument in the future and walk you through the steps of cleaning at home if wished.
